Hailed for her rich and beautiful voice, mezzo soprano Emily Weinberg is an artist to watch. The past few years have been an exciting period in her budding career, amassing wins in prestigious competitions in Southern California, including the Musical Merit Foundation of San Diego, Hawk Vocal Awards and La Jolla Symphony and Chorus Young Artist Competition. Previously, Ms. Weinberg has received awards from Opera Buffs and Lyric Opera of Orange Couny and in 2023, Emily was named a winner in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition – San Diego District and went on to compete at the MET’s Laffont Competition Western Region Finals.

Emily’s recent opera performances are highlighted by her performance as the titular role of Carmen with the Pacific Lyric Association, her work with Bodhi Tree Concerts as Toledo in The Falling and the Rising, and her performances with San Diego Opera for her solo debut as Kate Pinkerton in Madam Butterfly, her bit part in Suor Angelica as Lay Sister II, and her many appearances in the San Diego Opera Chorus.

Her early career was spent in Orange County working with wonderful artistic organizations such as the Pacific Symphony, singing for three seasons in concert stagings of La Cenerentola as Cenerentola, the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus. Emily also enjoyed opportunities with the Lyric Opera of Orange County, performing the role of Zosia in Jake Heggie’s Two Remain and Mercedes in Carmen. This season, Emily will be performing the role of Giovanna in San Diego Opera’s production of Rigoletto and returning to perform with the Fresno Master Chorale as a featured soloist in the Saint Matthew Passion.

Emily received her Bachelor of Music degree from California State University, Fullerton, graduating Cum Laude in 2019 and has attended the International Lyric Academy, Vicenza Italy. She is a student of Enrique Toral.
